Who we are
We live here. That is the whole proposition.
How we think
One country, known properly
Jambo Tours is a Nairobi tour operator. We arrange safaris, coastal holidays, day excursions and group travel — across Kenya, and only Kenya.
That narrowness is deliberate. An operator selling the whole continent cannot know which camps changed management last season, which guides are worth requesting by name, or which airstrip floods in May. We can, because it is one country and it is ours.
We do not run fixed departures or sell seats on someone else's vehicle. Every trip is built from a conversation, quoted honestly, and revised until it reads right. If we think you have chosen the wrong month or the wrong park, we will say so before you book rather than after.
Most of what we do is unglamorous — checking that a transfer connects, knowing which lodge has a genuinely good family room, being reachable when a flight shifts. That work is invisible when it goes well, which is rather the point.
Principles
How we work
-
Only Kenya
One country, known properly, rather than a continent known vaguely.
-
Private by default
Your own vehicle and guide. No shared seats, no fixed departures.
-
Honest pricing
Itemised inclusions and exclusions before you commit to anything.
-
Reachable
Someone in Nairobi who answers while you are travelling.

Travellers who trusted us
We were told the crossings were unpredictable and we appreciated the honesty — so when we sat above the Mara river for four hours and it finally happened, it felt earned rather than sold to us. Our guide read it before anyone else did.

The Mara in Style
Samburu was the part I had not thought about and it is the part I still talk about. Completely different country, almost no other vehicles, and a leopard on the riverbank on the first evening.

Wild Kenya: Mara to Samburu
Travelling with a seven and a ten year old, the direct flight from the Mara to Diani was worth every shilling. No long drive, no wasted day. The children were in the sea by lunchtime on the day we left camp.

Safari & Sea
Fifteen days sounds indulgent until you do it. Laikipia was the surprise — tracking rhino on foot with the rangers who monitor them is not a game drive, it is something else entirely.

The Ultimate Kenya Journey
We asked for no fuss and got exactly that. Nobody announced us as honeymooners, the bush dinner simply appeared, and Watamu was as quiet as promised.

Kenya Honeymoon Escape
As a Kenyan I have been to Amboseli many times and still learned things. The mountain only cleared properly on one of our three mornings, which is nobody's fault, but they had warned us that would likely happen.
